Task 16-My Space

I did not download my picture because number 1, I don't want it there and number 2, no one would want to see it anyway. As far as the library's My Space page, I think we need information for teens on there. I know the average age of My Space users is older but I think our audience will mostly be teens. So maybe throw on some recommended reading, programming info. and a special profile piece on our wonderful young adult librarian. Also, we need some pretty colors on there. It's a little bland.

Task 15-Library Elf

This is a great site. I can see where this would be so helpful to our customers, especially for families with multiple cards. For me, I'll take all the help I can get. Even though I'm at the library everyday, I still have overdue books at times. Hopefully, this will help me get those books in on time. Also, there are times when holds that come in for me don't make it to my desk. This way I'll be alerted and I can go fish them off the hold shelf myself. I will definitely recommend this site to my customers.

Task 13-Web 2.0 Sites

This was fun. I really enjoyed checking out all the different sites. I really liked http://www.last.fm It compiles the music you like to listen to and gives you recommendations based on what you like. I also liked http://eventful.com . With this site you can search for events in your town. I was surprised to see Patchwork Tales listed http://eventful.com/events?q=Patchwork&l=Rock+Hill%2C+SC&t=&c= Good advertisement for the library.

Task 12-Wiki
For some strange reason, I could not put a title in for this post.

Blogs and wikis are both so easy to use. But I like blogs a little better. It's easier to post pictures. I also like the format of blogs. But still there are some things that a wiki would be better for-like writing procedures. They are both great tools.

Task 9-Del.icio.us

Unfortunately, I could not get the delicious and tag symbols to download on the library computer at our desk. Any ideas? So, I guess we won't be using it at work. But I had no problem on my home computer. I found delicious easy to use but I don't know how often I will use it at home. There are very few sites I go to on a regular basis. Task 11-NetLibrary

I use NetLibrary all the time. About twice a month I download a book onto my MP3 player. Then, I listen to it while I'm exercising, cleaning house or cooking dinner. It's great! I especially like the historical fiction done by "Southern Voices." The only problem I've had is that one time I forgot to renew it, which of course was my fault. So then I had to download it again and find where I left off. The only complaint I have about NetLibrary is that I wish that they offered more. 1,500 books may seem like a lot to offer but when you use it as much as I do you wish you had more to choose from. They are extremely limited in the children's books that they offer. Oh, and I also wish they has summaries for all the books. It's aggrevating to have to go somewhere else to find out what the book is about. Otherwise, it's a great service.
